This is an old and unsafe FPE (Federal Pacific Electric) panel. It should be replaced ASAP. These were very common in millions of homes across the country from 1950 to the 1990's. FPE panels lost their UL listing in the early 2000's afte
This is a new Cutler Hammer 200 amp panel with 42 spaces that we installed in April 2021, replacing the above pictured FPE panel. Not only is there now more room for additional circuits but more importantly, it is safe. FPE breakers have an extremely high failure rate (up to 80%).

There are many reasons to update your service panel including age, lack of capacity, or damage. If your panel is more than 25 years old, it's a good idea to replace it with a new panel. Modern panels are equipped with today's newest technology in order to provide you with the safest living environment and worry-free protection.
In addition, if your meter socket and mast are showing age, it may be time to upgrade or replace them.
We also recommend replacing screw-in fuse panels. Fuses do not appropriately detect hazardous electrical situations that can pose a fire risk. In addition, fuses are not able to be reset and must be replaced if they have failed.
Many insurance companies assess higher rates to homes without modern circuit breakers.
