Electric vehicles (EV's) are the future, but they require slight lifestyle changes in order to be useful. Additionally, each automaker currently has their own preferred methods and ports for charging their electric vehicles. While steps are being taken to normalize charging, EV's still aren’t as uniform as their gasoline and diesel powered forbearers. There is a loose standard in the J-1772 charging plug, but this isn’t universal. And some chargers are made for specific types of EVs. Tesla, for example, has their own “Superchargers” that only work on their vehicles.
We have the expertise to install specialized car chargers for any EV and can install charging units at your home or business today!
Many homeowners believe that the only way to charge their electric car is off of the standard 120-volt outlet in their garage. Assuming a proper adapter is used, this will work, but it’s slow. All electric cars currently on the market require a 240-volt power outlet to charge efficiently, which means an entirely new dedicated circuit will need to be run at your home or business for your new car charger. But that’s what Nordeast Electric is here for! We’ve installed electric car chargers for every make and model available, and we would be happy to help you adapt to the new, green lifestyle you desire!
Uniformity in electric car charging is coming, but it isn’t there yet. With traditional gasoline and diesel powered vehicles, we expect to pull up to any gas station and fill up our tank without worrying about the make or model of our car. Electric cars aren’t quite so simple, but charging stations are beginning to show up at more and more gas stations and parking areas.
If you would like to be the next business to provide a station or would like one at the convenience of your own home, call us today to learn more or to schedule a charger installation!
